As Seen in Wallpaper*

I still can't quite believe I'm typing this, but my work was featured in Wallpaper* magazine.

If you know Wallpaper*, you know it's one of the most respected design and culture publications in the world. So when a friend sent me a link to their article, "The alternative art fairs championing emerging artists," and told me to scroll to the New Artist Fair section, I had to look twice.

There it was: one of my paintings, used to illustrate the New Artist Fair in the piece, with the caption "A painting by Agnieszka Lokaj exhibited in the 2024 edition of the New Artist Fair." Image credit: me.

The article, written by Anna Solomon, covers the art fairs giving emerging artists a real foothold in an industry that can feel impossibly hard to break into. It features everything from the Affordable Art Fair to SPRING/BREAK Art Show. The New Artist Fair, which takes place at the Truman Brewery in east London, is highlighted for being artist-run, accessible (work is priced from £50 to £2,000), and genuinely supportive of new voices. It's a fair where artists sell directly to buyers and where, according to the piece, many go on to secure gallery representation for the first time.

Showing at the New Artist Fair in 2024 was a significant moment for me. To now have a painting from that show appear in Wallpaper* as the image representing the fair to their global readership feels like a full-circle moment I didn't see coming.

Thank you to everyone who has supported my work. This one means a lot.
